I’m back

Posted by Arthur On November - 13 - 2008

Due to feeling extremely ill over the last several months I have neglected in updating this website. I am feeling a bit better now so I will be posting on a regular basis once more.

Basically my LLMD had me on a very strong dose Doxycycline antibiotics for 5 months. During this time I had gotten extremely sick because the antibiotics wrecked havoc in my body. I had to finally stop taking them because the Doxycycline had pretty much shut down my digestive system and made me horribly ill. For some time after I stopped the antibiotics I was feeling a bit better but then I got a lot worse fast.

I am now trying to deal with this by using natural methods that I found in my extensive research on Lyme Disease. I am taking 5 different natural antibiotics on a daily basis and many other supplements to strengthen my immune system and make my body inhospitable to the Borrelia burgdorferi bacterium.

I have also changed my lifestyle quite a bit. No more coffee and alcohol. No processed foods. Trying to eat as much raw foods as possible, get more sleep and drinking lots more water to help detox.

As time and my health permits I will start posting detailed info about the supplements I am taking and how things are progressing. So far it has been about a month on the supplements and I am definately feeling better. Lets see how things progress from here.

What did doxy do to your digestion?
I am thinking about going back on it because I did well on it.
But I did start having digestive problems (having a hard time digesting stuff) when I started taking 200mg 2x a day, 6 months ago. The digestive problems continue. I have to use a lot of ginger and digestive enzymes.

What natural antibiotics are you using, and how are they working?

    Hello to you, ‘admin’. :)

I’m so sorry you’ve had your troubles with Lyme Disease infection and that whole treatment ‘failure’ circle already.

I’ve had Lyme with co-infections possibly since 1980 or so. But it was the second infection in 2005 took me down into the crippling maze of disability and a search for a road towards recovery.

Like you, I got online and researched alot. Mostly I learned once you are ‘chronic’ that every treatment was only a ‘remission’ and there were always relapses. Quite depressing actually.

One of the best resources I found for basic information was lymedisease.org.

I also learned about many things from the forums at lymenet.org (warning: poorly moderated, so there are some pretty crabby postings).

During that first year I read about 4-6 books on Lyme disease, each one adding to my understanding of what I was getting into. The best one may have been S. Buhner’s book “Healing Lyme: Natural Healing And Prevention of Lyme Borreliosis And Its Coinfections.” I have used many of the suggestions from his book to manage my symptoms during my search for a cure.

Eventually I read Byran Rosner’s book on Lyme Disease (lymebook.com) and realized that there was one treatment that addressed the root cause of my ‘chronic’ case of Lyme. (See this amazing story of recovery at http://bacteriality.com/2008/03/31/interview19/). I am on this treatment now and I am amazed at the power of the approach.

Well, I hope my references provide some helpful information.

May your future be bright with hope.
    Take good care.

Doxycycline messed up my entire digestive system pretty good and I had to stop taking it for that reason. Since them I have been on quite a few different antibiotics including a month of IV Roceftin followed by Metronidazole and a few others.

As far as natural antibiotics go I am taking olive leaf extract, oregano oil, stabilized alicin garlic, Samento and a few others.

I am not sure what is working since I am doing so many different things including dietary changes; but I am finally starting to feel better.
